ausJENA Flektogon M 7x40W SUPERS
« on: April 08, 2018, 05:21:01 PM »
In this thread http://binopedia.info/index.php?topic=545.0 there is a Carl Zeiss Jena 15x50 Flektogon and Ralf has shown a picture of a 7x40 Flektogon.

Now I managed to also get a 7x40 in mint condition with fantastic optical properties. The typical Zeiss logo is missing and the glass shows the inscription ausJENA which Zeiss Jena had to use for export glasses.

It is identical to the older Carl Zeiss Jena 7x40 Septarem.

Hello Frank,

Congratulations for this superb Flektogon 7x40 in mint condition! The Septarem 7x40 is still my dream binocular since years.

Curious name 'Flektogon', the same of a CZJ photo lens Flektogon 35mm/2,8 that I had for my Praktica camera in the 70's. The Flektogons were superbe wide angle lenses.

Cheers
Rafael

Thanks, Rafael.

If you can get a Septarem, get it! It is my personal go-to binocular that I frequently use with great pleasure.

Certainly a nice binocular - if I remember rightly, my one even has slide up eyecups for spectacle wearers. ;)

Correct, Niall.

All Septarems have these slide-up eyecups.
