Yes, these are French - most likely Huet.

They are Huet, indeed: "Modele Extra Puissante"  - were avaialable with 15x or 18x power, also as monoculars. Never saw a monocular version, though  (who has got one??)
Worhwhile to try to win it - I will try.

I'm quite curious about Bruno Pietrini's new publication on French pre-1918 binoculars. Looking forward to it's presentation at the Ostend meeting.
