Per pages 13 - 14 of this 1942 U.S. Army Fire Control Instruments Technical Manual  the Krauss 15x, 23x, 30x 75 turret monocular was officially adopted by the U.S. Army as the "Telescope, observation, French, 3-power, M1917": https://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USA/ref/TM/pdfs/TM9-575.pdf

This indicates that not only was this monocular used by the U.S. Army during WW I but also probably to a limited extent during WW II as well. I was not aware of this.

I've seen this before (I may have a copy) and like you Frank was initially surprised but they are great scopes.  ;)
