An interesting question, Niall. Ateliers de Puteaux seem to have been particularly active in the artillery production and its accessories (optics, etc..).
By the way, found this rather informative website:

My APX telescope is marked as type L708 but does not figure there  ??? Only L705 and L709

Thanks for the link - it looks like a great site. My theory is that the APX is also a Huet but marked for an APX made system. The same thing happened here with Vickers predictors. I doubt Vickers made the optics - probably they were made by CTS.
